LIFE MEMBERS 1 - Bill Adams
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. Bill is now our longest ever serving member and was awarded life membership after he passed 30 seasons for the club. An association with the club that started when he played cricket for Smethwick at the age of 15. A solid stint as Chairman from 1976 to 1984. Co founder of the Smethwick & Distict Sunday Morning Bowling League and also the leagues President. Bill still captains the Oldbury Seniors team and in 2007 (his 44th season) he took the side to a league and cup double for the first time in Broomfields history. ~~~~~~~~~~ 2 - Arthur Woodward
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. Had 30 seasons with Broomfield when made a life member. Served as Chairman and Club Captain and also had a long stint as Secretary in the 1970's. Arthur died in 2000 after 36 years with the club. ~~~~~~~~~~ 3 - Sid Overfield
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. Made a life member for 25 years of service to the club. Sid passed away in 2007 after 39 seasons for Broomfield. 4 - Fred Price
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. 25 seasons when inducted, Fred played a large part in the renovation of the bowls pavilion and the upkeep of the surroundings. Died in 2006 after 35 years at the club. ~~~~~~~~~~ 5 - Joe Russell
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. 23 seasons for the club at the time. Our first Warwick & Worcester captain who in total captained a Saturday side for 13 seasons. Captained all three 'A' teams and won the Alliance averages on four occasions. A strict and organised captain, it is thanks to Joe that we can look back in much detail at our first six seasons in the W&W. Joe is now 81 and still lives in Oldbury. ~~~~~~~~~~ 6 - Jack Howell
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. Died in 2001. ~~~~~~~~~~ 7 - Janice Freeman
Inducted at the 1995 A.G.M. For her services over a great number of years, Janice was awarded with life membership. Our first President serving from 1992 until her sad passing in March 2005 having recently turned 65. A very kind and loving lady who was always loyal to the club. ~~~~~~~~~~ 8 - Ollie Newman
Inducted in 2002 Ollie was made a life member for the funds he raised the club by creating the bonus ball. 19 seasons for Broomfield in two seperate spells between 1982 and 2007. ~~~~~~~~~~ 9 - Malcolm Spencer
Inducted 1st October 2007 Joined in 1975 and has played 26 seasons for Broomfield. Served five terms as secretary and also held the position as treasuer. Alliance average winner on 5 occasions and has also been in the club championship final 5 times. ~~~~~~~~~~ 10 - Chris Price Inducted 1st October 2007 Current Chairman and President. Inducted for 29 years of active service. Has served seven terms as Chairman and has also been Club Captain and Oldbury 'A' Captain. ~~~~~~~~~~ 11 - Frank Newman
Inducted 1st October 2007 For his active service since 1979, Frank has had two spells at Broomfield totalling 23 seasons. Has held many positions including Secretary (7 terms), Club Captain, Oldbury 'A' Captain, Oldbury Seniors Captain, West Bromwich Captain, Oldbury 'B' Captain and greenkeeper. 'Spike' is also involved with the running of the Oldbury and West Bromwich leagues. ~~~~~~~~~~ 12 - Nigel Francis
Inducted 1st October 2007 Currently our third longest serving member. Inducted for 28 years of loyal service. ~~~~~~~~~~ 13 - Mark Hadley Snr
Inducted 1st October 2007 Joined in 1981, 2007 was Mark's 27th season for Broomfield. An active member holding all major roles at the club. Secretary for 10 years and has also been Club Captain, Chairman and Treasurer. Had a very successful spell as West Bromwich captain and has appeared in 15 club competition finals. ~~~~~~~~~~ 14 - Steve Blakeman
Inducted 1st October 2007 22 seasons with Broomfield, joining in 1985. An active and involved member who had a record term as treasurer, 16 years in total. Nearly 20 years as greenkeeper providing an immaculate surface. A successful captain with a ruthless selection policy bringing the club 14 pieces of silverware in his 10 years as Smethwick 'A' Captain. Also served as Bar Chairman to the parent club and had three years as cricket groundsman. ~~~~~~~~~~ 15 - Nigel Freeman
Inducted 1st October 2007 A lifetime involvement at Broomfield, Nigel stopped playing in 2006 after 22 seasons. Inducted for over 20 years of service and achivement. Several times 'A' team average winner, four times Club Champion, four times Club Handicap winner. A successful 'A' team captain and will always be regarded as one of the best players Broomfield has ever had. ~~~~~~~~~~ Life Members 1 ~ 7 were proposed by Frank Newman and seconded by Paul Gaynham. Janice Freeman was proposed by Paul Newman and seconded by Ian Tew. Ollie Newman was proposed by Steve Blakeman and seconded by the committee. Life Members 9 ~ 15 were proposed by Jonathan Blakeman and seconded by the committee.
