Nigel Freeman Paul Freeman (reserve) After Joe had let us borrow his Warwick & Worcester records, i asked him to send me what he considered to be his all-time Broomfield team. No one has captained a side on more occasions for Broomfield, Joe clocked up over 300 games as captain. Three Freeman's get a mention as well as current day players Chris Price and Malcolm Spencer. He also selected early Broomfield stalwarts like Wilf Robins and Arthur Woodward as well as the first younger bowlers in Peter Gwilt and Gary Clewer. Harold Hooper makes the side who moved to Broomfield after many successful seasons with Mitchells & Butlers. Joe also wrote a letter explaining his selection: Letter received 17th November 2007
Joe is now 81 years of age and has not been at Broomfield since 1998. He was a strict and organised captain with an ambition to lead Broomfield in the Warwick & Worcester. Joe's letter shows he has clearly not forgotten his time with the club and we should not forget the work he put in during his 26 seasons. Of the 17 times he took on a team captaincy, for every league and cup game he recorded the scorecard in full.
