PRESENTATION View the 2005 presentation by clicking here ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Click here to view photos from the Presentation evening 2007 PRESENTATION 2007 Saturday 3rd November The Park Inn Hotel, West Bromwich ~ ~ ~ The presentation was made by Chris Price who started by expressing his thanks to Keith Lawlor who had organised this years presentation. ~ ~ ~ Oldbury & District Seniors - Division 1 Champions & Knockout Cup Winners Captain - Frank Newman. League and cup double for the first time in the clubs history. ~ ~ ~ Oldbury & District Division 1 & 2 Knockout Cup Runners Up - Broomfield 'A'. Captain - Jonathan Blakeman. Beaten by the George in the final at M&B. ~ ~ ~ West Bromwich Midweek Bowling League, Handicap Shield Runners Up - Broomfield. Captain - Denise Killion. Beaten by Penn 'A' in the final at Hamstead Social. ~ ~ ~ B.C.G.B.A. All England Runner Up - Tracy Wilkins ~ ~ ~ Oldbury & District G.T.Wilson Pairs Winners - John Wilson & Denise Killion Runners Up - Mark Hadley Snr & Marc Hadley Jnr An all Broomfield final played at The George B.C. ~ ~ ~ Warwick & Worcester Premier Average Winner Warwick & Worcester Premier Division 2 League Averages Runner Up Oldbury 'A' Division 1 - Club & League Average Winner Smethwick 'A' Division 1 - Average Winner For all of the above, Ollie Newman was presented with an award which recognised another outstanding season. In 2006 Ollie became only the second player to win all three 'A' team averages in the same season (the first was Paul Freeman in 1997). In 2007 Ollie repeated this achievement. ~ ~ ~ Warwick & Worcester Alliance Division 2 Average Winner Nigel Francis Despite only playing 12 games 'Silver' won the averages with 20 points and a plus of 81. ~ ~ ~ West Bromwich Division 1 Average Winner John Hardman Played all 18 games, 20 points, +48. In John's abscence the award was collected by Terry Jones who was second in the averages. ~ ~ ~ Dudley Thursday Division 2 Average Winner Dave Chilton Dave won 13 / 18 games, collecting 28 points and finishing with a plus of 114. ~ ~ ~ Oldbury 'B' Division 4 Average Winner Matt Wilkins ~ ~ ~ Smethwick 'B' Division 2 Average Winner Phil High 'Chef' achieved a plus of 132 after only 14 games. ~ ~ ~ Oldbury Seniors Division 1 Average Winner Chris Price 25 points, +103 ~ ~ ~ William Purcell Club Pairs Winners - Jonathan Blakeman & Daniel Chilton Runners Up - Mark Hadley Snr & Phil High It was Jonathan's 4th apperaance in the pairs final and Mark's 7th. ~ ~ ~ Janice Freeman Club Handicap Winner - Marc Wilson Runner Up - Daniel Chilton Both players under 18 and in their first season for Broomfield. ~ ~ ~ Roy Freeman Club Championship Winner - Mark Hadley Snr Runner Up - Malcolm Spencer 21 years after Mark's first and only Championship win and Malcolms 5th time as a Club Championship runner up ~ ~ ~ Induction of Life Members - Presentation made by Peter Gwilt. Certificates were presented to the following: Malcolm Spencer - 30 year association with the club. Chris Price - 29 years of active service. Frank Newman - Over 20 years of active service. Mark Hadley Snr - Over 25 years of active service. Nigel Freeman - Over 20 years of service & achievement. Steve Blakeman - Over 20 years of active service. A mention was also made for Nigel Francis who was inducted as a Life Member for his 28 seasons at Broomfield. ~ ~ ~ Presidents Award - Marc Hadley Jnr. Chairmans Award - Denise Killion. In his dual role as President and Chairman, Chris Price awarded both Marc and Denise with a small token gift. ~ ~ ~ Arse Of The Year - Jim Watkin For shouting out at M&B in a league game "What's Camerons first name" Honorariums Lynne Lawlor was presented with her honorarium for doing the food, as well as Sheila Newman for the bonus ball. ~ ~ ~ Ray Law Club Person Of The Year - Presentation made by Ollie Newman Awarded to Jonathan Blakeman for publicity including the website, newsletter and archiving the clubs history in terms of competition winners, honours, averages and photos. ~ ~ ~ Special Lifetime Achievement Award - Presentation made by Ollie Newman Steve Blakeman Joining in 1985 from The Barn B.C. 'Blakey' went on to become one of the most active and involved members, this included a record stint as treasurer holding the position for 16 years. He worked on the green all year round for nearly 20 years providing us with an immaculate surface. Also held roles as Bar Chairman for the main club and Cricket Groundsman. Most notable was his 10 seasons as Smethwick 'A' Captain, bringing the club 14 pieces of silverware which included 8 Division 1 titles.
