17/05/08 - Another case of so close yet so far for the W&W Premier side this afternoon. Away at Forget Me Not the team took a 24 shot lead after four ends. Wins from John Wilson 21-11, Marc Wilson 21-12 and John Hardman who beat the in form Andy Flowers 21-15. The good start was completed when Mark Hadley Snr battled back from 19-9 down to score 20. The lead was cut down to 2 shots after just one winner in the middle four. Jonathan Blakeman won 21-9. Richard Weaver starred for the home side, beating Malcolm Spencer 21-8. The other two cards for us in the middle four, 9-21 and 12-21. Broomfield then went behind with a third single figure loss of 8-21. Dave Chilton scored a credible 15 against Forget Me Not's captain Colin Weaver. At this point Broomfield found themselves 17 shots behind, a 41 shot turnaround after the positive start. With two 21-12 victories required from the final two ends, Darren Griffiths kept the game alive with a with a 21-12 win. At this point Chris Chilton was left on the green leading 10-6. In the end Adam Weaver came out on top winning 21-20. Broomfield lost out by 9 shots with five winning cards and two 21-20 losers. 17/05/08 - Eleven winners for the W&W Alliance team as they crushed Great Barr by 91 shots at Broomfield. More than half the aggregate coming in the first four (+53) with wins from Tracy Wilkins 21-4, Dan Chilton 21-8, Marc Hadley Jnr 21-8 and Andy Calvert 21-11. Best cards from the second and third eight coming from Frank Newman 21-12, Keith Underhill 21-12 and Tonia Hadley 21-14. 16/05/08 - A game to forget in the W&W Premier Cup tonight. The fourth time Broomfield have crashed out of a cup at the first attempt this season. At Moor Lane, Broomfield lost to Ward End Social by 34 shots. Three winners but also three single figure losers. The winning cards coming from John & Marc Wilson, both 21-12 and Chris Chilton who beat Brian Porter 21-15. The Alliance team had a Bye in the first round of the W&W Alliance Cup, they play the British Oak in Round 2 on Friday 13th June. The draw for the second round (last 16) of the West Bromwich Handicap Sheild has been made. Broomfield will play W.B.F.S. The game needs to be played on or before Tuesday 1st July. 15/05/08 - A close game at Broomfield tonight, level on the board after six ends. The Dudley team ended up winning by 15 shots with a total of five winners against Bilston Town. Best cards from Dan Chilton 21-8, Keith Underhill 21-11 and Karemjit Gurdas 21-12. 14/05/08 - The Oldbury 'A' team won at home by 28 shots against West Bromwich Labour. Eight points with six winning cards, the best of which came from Dave Chilton 21-4, Marc Wilson 21-11 and Mark Hadley Snr 21-14. At Queens Park the Oldbury 'B' side managed three winners, losing out by 28 shots: Cameron Gurdas 21-10, Mark Wharton 21-16 and Matt Wilkins 21-19. 13/05/08 - Still no team victories to report as Broomfield on a whole went six games without a win tonight. The West Bromwich team lost by 16 shots away at Dartmouth. In second place before tonights game, Broomfield had three winners: John Wilson 21-5, Dan Chilton 21-10 and John Hardman 21-12. 12/05/08 - Oldbury Seniors lost by 27 shots away at Hamstead this afternoon. Malcolm Spencer made it five wins out of five (21-15), also winning cards from Frank Newman 21-10 and Sheila Baker 21-20. Also two new players registered for the side, Frank Harrison and Pauline Broadhead. This in addition to the three players who joined the Oldbury Seniors at the start of the season in Len Marks, John Simcox and Jean Willetts. 11/05/08 - Both Smethwick teams are now out of the S.F.Jones Cup after the 'B' side lost in the first round to West Bromwich Labour 'A' by 36 shots. The game was played at the George and Broomfield had three winners in Marc Hadley Jnr 21-15, Denise Killion 21-16 and Dan Chilton 21-20. 10/05/08 - W&W Premier team lost at home by 14 shots to Acocks Green B.L. Five winning cards: Nigel Francis 21-6, Mark Hadley Snr 21-6, Chris Price 21-11, Darren Griffiths 21-17 and Terry Jones 21-19. W&W Alliance team lost away at Boldmere St Michaels by 34 shots. Just three winners in Frank Newman 21-6, Tracy Wilkins 21-12 and Tonia Hadley 21-18. 08/05/08 - Dudley side lost by 16 shots away at Bilston Town. Three winners in Mark Healey 21-8, Keith Underhill 21-17 and Jim Watkin making it three out of three, also 21-17. The Oldbury cup draws are now online. The first round (also the quarter final!) for the Oldbury 'A' will be played on Monday 9th June against the Green Man or the Gate. On the same night the Oldbury 'B' will play Queens Park in the quarter finals of the Division 3/4 knockout cup. Venues for both games still to be confirmed. 07/05/08 - Broomfield won on West Bromwich Labour for the first team in five years tonight. The Oldbury 'A' side won by 3 shots with 3 winners: Jonathan Blakeman 21-5, Marc Wilson 21-16 and Mick Barnwell 21-20. Also good cards from Dave Chilton 20-21, Mark Nemedi 20-21 and Chris Price 18-21. The Oldbury 'B' team recorded their first win of the season by beating Queens Park by 15 shots at Broomfield. Four winners in Danielle Newman 21-6, Matt Wilkins 21-6, Mark Wharton 21-12 and Joe Wilson 21-14. The Oldbury 'A' game away at the Beeches which was rained off will now be played on Monday 19th May. For the Oldbury Merit draw please click here. 06/05/08 - A solid win for the West Bromwich team tonight. Seven winning cards including a 21-0 from Nigel Francis. The game was won by 84 shots, also wins from John Hardman 21-6, Terry Jones 21-7, Malcolm Spencer 21-9, Dan Chilton 21-11, Chris Chilton 21-12 and John Wilson 21-15. 04/05/08 - Smethwick 'B' had a full house at home to the George this morning winning by 75 shots. Three single figure cards of the eight winners: Phil High 21-4, Dan Chilton 21-9 and Mark Nemedi 21-9. No game for the Smethwick 'A'. 03/05/08 - The W&W Premier team put up a great fight away at the British Oak, only to lose out by 3 shots. Six winners in a game where the support from start to finish was superb. New Inns Harborne lost at home but three sides near the bottom picked up home wins (Forget Me Not, Richmond, Brit Oak). Broomfield now the only side not to register a win in Premier Division 2. The six winners today: Mark Nemedi 21-4 (now 4 / 4), Chris Price 21-14, Terry Jones 21-16, Chris Chilton 21-16, John Wilson 21-17 and Marc Wilson 21-18. The Alliance team had a convincing win at home to M&B Portland Road, winning by 77 shots. Nine winners with four single figure cards: Keith Underhill 21-2 and three 21-8's in John Hardman, Marc Hadley Jnr and Denise Killion. 01/05/08 - Dudley side lost away to Stourbridge Labour 'A' by 41 shots. Three winners: Jim Watkin 21-13, Karemjit Gurdas 21-16 and Marc Hadley Jnr 21-20.
